This is a reminder to those folks out there who may have this additional feature on your U.S. insurance plans. Flexible Savings Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) are ways that health insurance companies offer a similar type of flexible spending on your health care needs.
While Reiki — and many other forms of stress relief— are foundations of wellness, we tend to think of them as luxuries or an added bonus at the end of the month. But why don’t we think about Reiki as maintaining our future, like a retirement plan, or a preemptive action for staying well?
We could probably have long discussions around this, but just remember that if you are already paying into these FSA and HSA accounts, I can accept that form of payment as long as you have the card attached to that.
Maybe someday, insurance companies will accept Reiki practitioners to make this more widely accessible, but for now, tiny steps!
